[BCM, August 1984, p345] "Oxford — Mark Williams reports from Oxford where he and Michael Hall organised a tournament at Hertford College that brought a clinching norm for Jonathan Levitt of Magdalen. The event, June 25 - July 3, was of Category 5 strength and resulted; 1 Ligterink (NDL) 7½(9) undefeated; 2 Levitt 6; 3 Regan (USA) 5½; 4 Condie (SCO) 5; 5-6 Hartoch (NDL), McNab (SCO) 4½; 7 Hawksworth 4; 8 Upton (SCO) 3; 9-10 Cox, Bradbury 2½.

"Levitt’s two previous norms came in the Lloyds Bank Masters 1982 and 1983, so he needed his final norm from an all-play-all tournament. Mark Condie was in the running for his final norm until he lost in round six against Dutchman Hartoch. We give a neat tactical stroke by the winner, and the last-round game which Levitt had to win."
